A dash of active listening goes a long way, stretching for miles into the healing horizon. Feeling a little less misunderstood brings a miraculous sense of hope, safety, and belonging.
In 2012, I crossed paths with my first therapist, a wonderful person who consistently carved out space and time to support me, hear me, become a confidant, and identify with my feelings as if they were her own.
She taught me how to reframe, or look at the cup as half full, and realize that I can be empowered to claim a reasonable amount of healthy, realistic control over how I think, feel, and function.
Therapy helped me pour into myself and revealed my purpose.
Back then, I did not exactly have my footing, career-wise. However, I always knew that I wanted to help others in some capacity.
My first therapeutic experience was so rewarding that it sealed the deal and revealed my professional path toward fulfillment to me like a compass.
